Nvidia CEO’s Davos Speech Sparks Global Rally in Chip Stocks

Chip stocks worldwide rallied after remarks by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang boosted investor optimism about the future of artificial intelligence investment during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Samsung Electronics shares, a major memory chipmaker, surged up to 5%, reaching a record high and pushing South Korea’s Kospi index above the 5,000-point mark for the first time.

The gains followed a more than 3% rise in the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, supported by Nvidia’s advance, as global risk appetite improved after US President Donald Trump eased tariff threats against some European countries.

Huang told the forum that the global expansion of artificial intelligence would require trillions of dollars in investment, reinforcing expectations of sustained demand for chip stocks and AI infrastructure.

Other semiconductor-related companies also posted strong gains, including Japan’s Disco and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, while investors await earnings from major tech firms to assess capital spending trends across the sector.
